Place and time of birth: Budapest, 17 February 1971

 

University Qualification: Obtained the title of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995, in Budapest, at the University of Veterinary Medicine

 

Time spent in exotic and wild animal medicine: Has been a veterinarian at Budapest Zoo since 1995, and Lead Veterinarian and Manager of the Animal Health and Nature Conservation Department since 2003. Conservation and Animal Health Director since 2017. Aside from his work at the Budapest Zoo, he is a consultant at multiple Hungarian zoos, and a number of breeding farms.

 

Significant training courses, prizes, titles, accomplishments:

 

  • 1998 - Diploma of Endangered Species Management (Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, Jersey, United Kingdom)
  • Between 2003 and 2008, Vice President of the Hungarian Association of Wild and Zoo Veterinary Doctors
  • 2006 - Obtained a secondary degree in Small Animal Specialisation at Szent István University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
  • Since 2006, representative of EAZWV (European Association of Zoo- and Wildlife Veterinarians) Hungarian Section, board member
  • 2007 - Received a ‘Pro Natura’ award from the Environment and Water Management Minister, partly for his veterinary work in saving and breeding wild animals.
  • 2007 - An active member and Hungarian delegation leader in the international research team working with the world’s first white rhinoceros born following artificial insemination
  • 2008 - Obtained a secondary degree in Exotic Animal Specialisation at Szent István University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
  • Since 2008, President of the Hungarian Association of Wild and Zoo Veterinary Doctors
  • 2008 - An active member and supporter, as well as a Hungarian delegation leader in the international research team working with the world’s second white rhinoceros born following artificial insemination (first from frozen sperm)
  • Since 2010 - teacher at Szent István University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Veterinary Medicine
  • 2012 - Attained PhD on the topic of ‘Bustard Health’ at the University of West Hungary
  • 2012 - Attained DipECZM in Zoo Health Management
